Solar Battery Storage for Southern California Homes

Electricity rates in Southern California are among the highest in the country — and they continue to rise. With Time-of-Use pricing, NEM 3.0, and frequent grid strain, solar batteries are no longer a luxury; they're a smart energy strategy.

Battery Storage by Nuon Energy
Enphase, Tesla, SolarEdge & Duracell

The Nuon Standard for
battery storage.

Nuon Energy designs and installs solar battery systems specifically for homes served by Southern California Edison (SCE), San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). We size against your actual rate plan and usage curve, not a template.

Batteries are commissioned with grid-forming inverters, storm-mode logic, and mobile monitoring so you always see what's flowing in, out, and stored.

Avoid expensive peak TOU rates

Maximize NEM 3.0 self-consumption

Backup power for grid outages and PSPS events

Lower dependence on utilities

01
Why it matters

Why solar batteries matter in Southern California

Under NEM 3.0, the credit for exported solar is a fraction of the retail rate. Storage is how you keep the value of what your panels produce — charge from solar during the day, discharge during peak evening hours or during outages.

We work with every major SoCal utility and every leading battery platform, so the recommendation you get is based on your rate plan and roof, not on what we happen to stock.

Battery Storage FAQ

Do I need a battery under NEM 3.0?

+
Not technically required, but without one your payback stretches significantly. NEM 3.0 pays roughly 75% less for exported solar than NEM 2.0, so storing and self-consuming is where the savings live.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar?

+
Yes. AC-coupled batteries like Tesla Powerwall and Enphase IQ retrofit onto virtually any existing solar system, including third-party installs.

Are there rebates for battery storage?

+
Yes. California's SGIP program still offers rebates for battery storage, with higher tiers for medical-baseline and high-fire-risk customers. We handle the SGIP application for you.
