Who we are
A Southern California solar company built like a single crew.
Nuon Energy designs, permits, roofs, wires and services every system in-house, from our San Diego shop out through every zip in Southern California. No sales channels, no sub-contracted installs, no third-party warranty desks.
We are a licensed roofer and a certified Tesla, Enphase, Q Cells and Duracell installer. One crew engineers your roof, your solar and your storage together, and answers the phone for the next 25 years.

Conversion
Sunlight becomes electricity.
This is what that looks like in real light.
The module
A single Tier-1 monocrystalline panel, the atomic unit of every Nuon system, machined to a fraction of a millimeter.
First light
Anti-reflective glass pulls photons into 22.5%-efficient N-type cells and pushes clean DC current out the back.
An array is born
Multiplied across your roof, sized to your household load, tuned for NEM 3.0, quietly generating power all day long.
The numbers behind the panel
Engineered for California sun. Guaranteed for a generation.
Nuon systems are specified around three measurable outcomes: how efficiently each panel converts light, how much electricity it delivers through the day, and how long that performance is contractually protected.
Module conversion efficiency vs. 25% silicon ceiling
Efficiency
Performance proven on real roofs.
22.5% conversion, measured in Southern California sun, not lab conditions. Higher efficiency means fewer panels, less roof consumed and more kilowatt-hours from the same daylight.
That headroom is what makes tight urban roofs and NEM 3.0 economics work.
Per module output by hour, 6AM to 6PM, Southern California solar window
Output
Modern output at solar noon.
Tier 1 modules are selected around production, appearance, warranty strength and roof fit, not a single wattage headline. A standard twenty-panel array can cover much of a home's daily draw with surplus routed straight to storage.
The curve isn't theoretical, every Nuon install is sized against your last twelve months of utility usage so generation matches the load you actually pay for.
Guaranteed output retention over the 25-year warranty
Warranty
25 years, serviced in-house.
Tier 1 modules carry a manufacturer-backed 25-year performance warranty, with many product lines targeting roughly 92% rated output at year 25.
And unlike solar resellers, Nuon services every claim in-house. No third-party dispatch, no finger-pointing between installer and manufacturer. One team, one number, for a quarter century.

The roof goes to work.
Tier 1 black-on-black modules feed the home first, no export, no waste. Every kilowatt you make offsets a kilowatt you'd otherwise buy during your utility's peak window.
Golden hour
The battery starts filling.
Your battery system quietly stores what the house can't use, reserving evening power at midday rates.
4-9 PM peak
The house runs on stored sun.
NEM 3.0 punishes exports and rewards self-consumption. Nuon sizes storage to cover the peak window that would otherwise cost you the most.
After dark
Zero bill.
The EV charges on stored solar. The house draws from the battery. The grid barely touches the ledger.

Design and survey
We design off precise imagery, then verify on site.
Your layout starts from high-resolution satellite and aerial imagery, so shade lines and setbacks are modeled accurately before you see a price. A site survey is scheduled before install to confirm the roof, the panel and the run.
Survey before install
Custom design
One system, engineered around your bill.
Panel count, string layout and Powerwall sizing are modeled against your last twelve utility bills and NEM 3.0 export values, then reviewed with you before a single permit is pulled.
2 to 4 day turnaround
Permits and approvals
We pull every stamp so you pull none.
City building permits, HOA submittals, utility interconnection and inspection scheduling, all filed and tracked by our in-house permitting team.
Usually 3 to 6 weeks
Installation day
In-house crews. One day on the roof.
Same badged Nuon team from bid to bolt. Most residential installs are complete between sunrise and sunset, panels racked, battery mounted, gateway wired.
1 to 2 days on site
Activation and PTO
The moment your meter runs backward.
Once your utility grants Permission to Operate, we commission the system live with you, walk the monitoring app, and hand over a binder with every serial, warranty and firmware revision inside.

Why solar now
NEM 3.0 changed the math. Storage brings it back.
Under NEM 3.0, exporting solar to the grid earns roughly 25% of what NEM 2.0 paid. But self-consumed solar is worth full retail, and TOU-shifted battery power is worth even more. Here's how we design around it.
Southern California residential rates have risen ~8% annually for a decade. Every year without solar is a year buying at retail.
Charge midday from your own panels, discharge during the 4-9pm peak window. Tesla, Enphase and other platforms we install run this automatically.
SGIP is out of money right now. The San Diego Community Power battery rebate is the live local incentive, and Nuon files the paperwork.
The federal credit applies to solar and storage, including standalone battery retrofits. Amount and eligibility are confirmed with your tax advisor.
Certifications
Licensed, bonded, and factory-certified.
Owners
What Southern California homeowners are saying.
Nuon walked us through every rebate and made the roof + solar bundle a no-brainer. Crew was professional, install was clean, and the system's producing above estimate.
Got four quotes, Nuon was the only one that actually inspected the roof first. Fair price, no upsell games, and the Powerwall has saved us during two outages already.
From consult to power-on took about six weeks. They handled permits, HOA paperwork and utility interconnection. Best contractor experience I've had in ten years.
FAQ
Questions we hear every week.

The sun comes up over Southern California 320 days a year.
Your meter doesn't care. It bills you anyway.
A technician measures your roof. Not a satellite.
We model it against your last twelve utility bills.
